The hearing on the contempt of court claim filed by the FAST leader against the leader of the HRPP and others for allegedly obstructing the convening of Parliament was held in the Supreme Court today.
However the media was banned to sit in.
The civil claim by now Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa was levelled against former Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi; and former Attorney General, Mareva Betham-Annandale, former Speaker Leaupepe Toleafoa Faafisi and former Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, Tiatia Graeme Tualaulelei.
Last year, the Supreme Court ordered Parliament to convene on May 23, 40 days after the General Election as per constitution and FAST claims this order was allegedly ignored.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Aumua Ronnie explained the Judge has the discretion on the number of people allowed inside their courtroom hence the ban, however he will deliberate with the relevant Judge over this matter.
The court last week issued a public notice there is a 30 limitation on people that can sit in the Court room; however only a handful of people that were inside this specific courtroom today.
