Digicel Samoa and Marist St Joseph’s Sports Club have entered into a partnership that will include the sponsorship of their sports events throughout the whole year.

Digicel is the exclusive telecommunication sponsor in line with their donation of $50,000 for the 6th Marist Sports Season 2022.

The Sports Club invests in the development of a variety of sports, including rugby, netball, and touch rugby to name a few.

Newly elected President of Marist St Joseph’s Sports Pouniu Smith said during a press conference on Thursday this is the first time they have partnered up with Digicel.

Despite the economic downturn as a result of the COVID-19, which has impacted a lot of businesses but Digicel put up their hand to sponsor the sporting calendar for 2022, which is commendable.

Digicel Samoa’s Chief Executive Officer, Seiuli Deepak Khanna says Marist’s keenness in developing sports in the Country is something their company wants to be a part of.

Adding that this is a milestone for both Digicel and Marist Sports Club.

Seiuli said in line with the 60th year of Samoa’s independence they want to remain at the forefront in terms of nurturing young talent and sportsmen.

“And that Marist provides the perfect platform to nurture these young talents, get them recognised globally, not just locally and then build up this talent.”
