The Patamea Congregational Christian Church was demolished in a fire early Friday morning.

It is suspected the fire started as a result of an electrical issue, said the Fire and Emergency Services Authority Commissioner Tanuvasa Petone.

He told Radio Polynesia, the FESA received the call for assistance around 5am and firefighters stationed at Maota and Asau responded.

Fortunately no one was injured.

The Ministry of Police and Prisons were also the scene for their investigation.

According to Tanuvasa, information relayed to his team in Savaii this is not the first time the church as been damaged in a fire.

Six years after the church was rebuilt it has been demolished in a blaze this week.
