A state funeral will be held to honour the life and service of former Member of Parliament of Vaisigano No.2 M.P. Tapulesatele Tamasone Esera.
He will be laid to rest today.
The former MP died in New Zealand due to medical reasons prior to the holidays.
A staunched member of the Human Rights Protection Party, Tapulesatele was first elected into office in 2016 and was defeated during the general election in April last year.
A former member of the Board member of Samoa Tourism Authority Tapulesatele was vocal in Parliament over the shortage crisis of teachers in the Country which impacted his constituency.
He said the teacher shortage crisis should be addressed, and used as an example the Papa Sataua Primary School which opened a new school building in 2019, but does not have enough teacher.
He also suggested for the Ministry of Education Sports and Culture to consider the rehiring of retired teachers on temporary basis while the government searches for new teachers.
