The three suspended Police Constables in connection to drug related matters have been “charged administratively for misconduct”.

This follows a Police Standard Unit investigation launched after their identity surfaced from interrogations of drug defendants arrested and charged in the recent drug raids.

The charges were confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.

Two Police Officers had since tendered their resignation letters as a result of the investigation.

The suspended as Police Constables have been identified Nikisone Isaia; Larrylove Saua and Sirovai So’oalo.

This was outlined an internal memorandum endorsed by Acting Police Commissioner Leiataualesa Samuelu Afamasaga dated 18b February, 2022.

Radio Polynesia made efforts to get comments from the suspended Police Officers but were unsuccessful.

Last month Minister of Police and Prisons, Faualo Harry Schuster confirmed an internal investigation carried out to remove “corrupt police officers on the force” in their alleged involvement in dealing and using drugs.

In doing that, the Minister confirmed an internal investigation has been launched after evidence discovered in relation to Police Officers involved in using hard drugs such as methamphetamine or ice.

The Minister told Radio Polynesia in earlier interviews, that he’s encouraged that the Senior Management are conducting an investigation into allegations of members of the force involved in drug taking.
