The Ministry of Police and Prisons on Wednesday called off the search of the body of a young man from Samalaeulu that went swimming on Sunday with his cousin, both men drowned.

Police discovered one of the body’s on Monday.

This was confirmed by Deputy Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.

Since Monday diving teams have been in Samalaeulu to assist with the search.

As reported earlier, Auapaau appealed to members of the public to heed the warnings sent out by the Weather Stations, that when its bad weather, overflow of banks, the public needs to stay away from streams, waterfalls and the ocean.

He concluded by acknowledging the support of the F.E.S.A. since the search started on Sunday.
