The Ministry of Health has announced they have run out of the Pfizer vaccines and booster shots, but they are continuing with the roll out of AstraZeneca for the first and second dosage.
This is according to a notice posted on their social site.
This week, nurses with the Ministry of Health are undergoing training under the guidance of immunisation Advisory Center in New Zealand via zoom, to familiarise and train the Samoa Vaccinators on the preparation and administering of the Pfizer/Vaccine for 5 - 11 year olds.
The training is run in partnership with IMAC (Immunisation Advisory Center) New Zealand and Ministry of Health Samoa.
Meanwhile Members of Parliament and Chief Executive Officers present at Parliament on Tuesday afternoon received their Covid-19 booster during recess.
Speaker of the House Li’o Papalii Taeu Masipa’u informed Parliament the National Emergency Operations Committee has urged Members to get their booster shots (3rd dose) and onbehalf of Parliament, he has accepted the advice and encouraged Members to get their vaccine during the lunch break at 1pm as the Health will provide a booth for Members to receive their shot.
Prime Minister Fiame, Naomi Mataafa took the lead of the Members of parliament to get her third COVID-19 vaccine.
The latest data from the Ministry of Health, today is that 97.4 percent of the eligible population have received their first doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine while 89.4 percent have been fully vaccinated.
