International day of the women was celebrated across Samoa today, it also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

This year’s theme is break the bias generally aiming at celebrating women's achievements, fighting bias and creating a gender equal world, says a statement posted by the Ministry of Police and Prisons.

Today the Samoa Police Women’s Advisory Network (SPWAN) celebrates this auspicious event at each police outpost with the support of the Ministry of Police and Prisons and the Samoa Australia Police Partnership (SAPP).

The statement issued by the Police was accompanied by a video clip of Assistant Commissioner Papalii Efo Peika-Moalele one of the inspiring female leaders in the Police force.

The daughter of the late Police Inspector Taimalelagi Peika Moalele Tuiletufuga, and Tualagi; Papali’i Efo comes from the villages of Sapapa’ii, Apia and Siumu.

Papalii has been a police officer for over 20 years and is the first Police Office to be appointed as Assistant Commissioner from the Inspector rank skipping the rank of Superintendent.
