The Ministry of Police and Prisons has accepted to appeal by the Independent Prosecutor, Leinafo Taimalelagi Strickland to withdraw their complaint filed against Cabinet Minister, Leatinuu Wayne So’oialo over allegations of interference with prosecution witnesses.
Leatinu’u was initially charged with 13 counts of bribery and treating and was accused earlier for tampering with witnesses.
The criminal charges had since been withdrawn before the District Court this week.
Last week, the Independent Prosecutor wrote to the Ministry of Police to withdraw their seven letter of complaints filed between last September and January this year against the Cabinet Minister.
Deputy Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed with Radio Polynesia the withdrawal complaint has been accepted by their Ministry.
The Independent Prosecutor said in their withdrawal letter they no longer wish to pursue the complaint and end any further action to be taken on the complaint filed earlier.
She concluded by thanking the Ministry for their overall assistance especially the time and efforts expanded in investigating their complaint.
