The Police and Prisons hailed a successful year with the Ministry’s operation which included drug raids, responding to disturbance calls; carrying out arrest of outstanding warrants; executing search warrants and solving cases.

However it is somewhat a shortfall given there two are high profile cases that remains outstanding.

Acting Police Commissioner,Papalii Monalisa Keti says this includes the notorious career criminal Pati Chong Nee who remains at large, after escaping from Tafaigata jail since 2019 and the unsolved death of a University student, Tu’uau Faasavalu, discovered on the main road and believed to be victim of a hit and run traffic incident, not far from his residence in Vaitele.

Papalii appealed to members of the public for their assistance in these open cases.

The appeal was made during the Ministry of Police and Prisons held its annual thanksgiving service to acknowledge all the work done throughout the year and to start the usual police festive season operation.

The event was held at the Maota of Tupulaga Hall in Sogi.

Awards and consolation prizes were given out and the Senior Sergeants also were issued their police badges.

Last week, the Ministry of Police and Prisons conducted its annual visit to Mapuifagalele on and their choir performed various Christmas Carols to lift the spirit of the elderlies.

The Ministry also donated vegetables and assort of goods and monetary gift of $1000 tala to acknowledge the prayers by the sisters of the poor and elderlies throughout the year.
