Samoa is expected to receive booster shots, however its unclear when that will happen.
This was announced during a National Emergency Operations Centre press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
The latest Ministry of Health data indicated that 86 percent of the eligible population are fully vaccinated and 96% have had their first dose.
The NEOC Chairman Agafili Tomaimano Shem Leo told the media they will inform the public once any new information is available.
In the meantime, Agafili also made it clear that in efforts by the Samoa Government to boosts its measures on the campaign on the COVID-10 vaccinations, by next month it will be mandatory for public servants to provide COVID-19 vaccination cards in order to work.
Agafili pointed out these are stringent measures for the safety of the people and is hopeful the business community will follow suit.
This week the Samoa Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Faamatuainu Suifua Lenata’i, made it compulsory for his staff to provide proof of vaccinations otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the work premises.
