The Assistant Electoral Commissioner, Afualo Darryl Mapu was taken into the custody of police last night following a raid of his residence in Nu’ufou.

Police confiscated hard drugs such as methamphetamine along with cash and guns.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo confirmed the drug raid but declined to comment on the details when contacted by the Radio Polynesia, noting that a press conference will be held in the afternoon for media queries.

A woman in her 20’s was also arrested as a result of the raid. She is also an employee of the Office of the Electoral Commission Office.

Two weeks ago Police arrested seven people a result of a drug raid in a separate incident at a family home in Vaitele that led to the seizure of hard drugs in the Country.

Police found methamphetamine or ice; marijuana joints and drugs paraphernalia.
