The Legislative Assembly is proceeding with efforts to be financially independent from the Executive Branch.

In doing so, they are seeking proposals for a qualified consultant that will conduct an assessment of the feasibility for the Parliament of Samoa to gain financial and administrative autonomy from the Executive branch.

The tender documents released last night stated the maximum bid is $50,000 for the procurement of consultancy services.

Last year the FAST Administration looked into a policy to allow Parliament to work financially independent from the Government to protect Parliament's independence.

According to the tender documents, the firm’s other main duties and responsibilities will include coordinating and organizing dialogues, interviews with stakeholders, Ministries and relevant parties to enhance an understanding of the current processes and procedures of Parliament.

A final report with final recommendation will be submitted to the Speaker and Management of the Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly.
