Cabinet yesterday approved the medical transfer of former Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegoai to New Zealand for a health checkup.
This follows his discharge from the hospital.
A Cabinet Minister confirmed the decision by the Cabinet, noting that Tuilaepa will travel on the next available flight.
As reported last week, the leader of the Opposition was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital on Thursday and was discharged after five days.
Health officials told Radio Polynesia last week, that Tuilaepa 76, had a high fever which required IV’s to help reduce the fever.
Last Friday the HRPP issued a statement that Tuilaepa "is recovering well from the normal flu, and that he is requiring plenty of bed rest."
To date, Tuilaepa has not attended Parliament sessions, since convening on Tuesday.
