The Public Service appointed interview panel has submitted their recommendation on a candidate as Chief Executive Officer, for the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development, to Cabinet for their review and approval.

This was confirmed by an official of the Office of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

This comes after six months since former CEO, Afamasaga Faauiga Palepua Mulitalo exit's after discovery the extension to her contract, was not approved signed.

When the FAST Administration took it was uncovered Afamasaga already fulfilled her three year contract with the Government, however the extension to the contract was unsigned. The Government immediately terminated her services.

Afamasaga’s exit at the time became the subject of criticism by the former Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, claiming the FAST Government were sacking top officials.

However Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa made it clear the extension of Afamasaga’s contract was never signed.

In the meantime seven Chief Executive Officers positions remains vacant. In October the PSC advertised the seven positions including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet; Ministry of Communication and Information Technology; Ministry of Customs and Revenue; Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure; Ministry of Finance and the Commissioner of Police.
