The COVID-19 booster shots are underway at the vaccinations sites.

Members of the public who are fully vaccinated are now allowed to get their booster vaccines at STA fale and the vaccination site at the hospital in Moto’otua and District hospitals.

Last week 10,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Australia to assist with the continuation of the vaccination roll out program in the Country.

The last vaccination data from the Ministry of Health as of 2 February 2022 stands at: 224,455 AstraZeneca where as more than 106,000+ or (87.2%) are fully vaccinated;117,681 (96.5%) of the people that received their first dose; 45,633 Pfizer doses were administered (12-17yrs old) whereas 19,782 have been fully vaccinated and 25,851 received their first doses only.

Many safe and effective vaccines that prevent people from getting seriously ill or dying from COVID-19 are available.

The Government has ensured that these are available in sufficient quantities to cover the whole population.

The Ministry of Health says the core part of managing COVID-19, in addition to the main preventive measures of keeping a safe distance from others and avoiding crowds, wearing a well-fitting mask covering your mouth and nose, keeping indoor spaces well ventilated, cleaning hands regularly and covering coughs and sneezes.
