The Samoa Tourism Authority has dismissed reports the established hotels were each given $50,000.

Chief Executive Officer Faamatuainu Suifua Lenata’i told Radio Polynesia there is a stringent process in place and there are also eligibility required criteria in order to be qualified.

Last year the Government under the FAST Administration delivered a $5 million Stimulus Package to assist Samoa’s tourism sector which has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said its not only the big hotels that received assistance but also the beach fales.

The CEO also pointed out these are public funds and the government will be auditing the use of funding by the recipients.
